Each kimono is bought one at a time in Japan; we will not have another. These are authentic Japanese kimono, worn and kept before they came this far. The marks of time — the patina, the light wear — are part of the piece.
Description
The same principle as The Hidden Dragon, with a different animal. On the outside, a discreet grey woven in kikkō — the tortoiseshell hexagon, a repeating geometric pattern with almost no visible relief. Nothing draws the eye.
Then you open it, and the whole lining becomes a hand-painted landscape: snow-capped Mount Fuji, a hawk with open wings resting on a pine. The same scene as on Mount Fuji, but relegated to the inside of the garment — exactly where Edo-era merchant tradition allowed the luxury forbidden on the outside.
Worn open, the lining reveals itself with every movement. Closed, no one suspects what it carries.

Sent from France, carefully folded and wrapped in Japanese paper. Times and rates are set out in the terms of sale. Returns accepted within fourteen days, except for pieces altered to measure.
Care
Dry clean only. The lining is painted: never rub, never spot-clean with water. Hang on a wide hanger, away from light.
