Made to measure

Most pieces are meant to be worn exactly as they are, open, with nothing altered. It is the truest way to wear them, and the most respectful of the garment.

Still, a piece sometimes speaks to you without quite fitting. It can then be reworked: shortened, lightened, turned into a dress or a coat. Every transformation is unique and decided together.

How it works

• A conversation first. Thirty minutes, by video call, free and with no obligation. We look at the piece, your measurements, and what you want it to become.
• A written proposal. The detail of the work, the price and the timescale, before any commitment.
• The work itself. The piece goes to the atelier once the proposal is accepted.
• Delivery. With its card, telling the story of the cloth.

What can be done

The amounts below are added to the price of the piece. They are indicative: old cloth has a great deal of say in the matter, and a quote is always drawn up on the actual garment.

• Shortened sleeves — to wear it as a haori, from €50
• Adjusted length — tunic or short-dress line, from €50
• Turned into a dress — length, sleeves and collar reworked, from €150
• Matching belt — in the cloth of the piece itself, from €40
• Winter lining — to make it a warm garment, from €100
• Turned into a coat — the whole structure rethought, from €250
• Gift wrapping — washi paper and mizuhiki cord, €10

What you should know

A transformed piece is made to your measurements. For that reason it cannot be returned or exchanged once made — this is what the law provides for goods made to order. We therefore take the time needed before starting.

Timescales depend on the atelier and on the work involved. They are given to you in writing, with the quote.
