Mount Fuji

A single painting runs the length of the silk: snow-capped Mount Fuji, a hawk with open wings, a black pine. Brush-painted, in grey alone. The brushstrokes are visible — this is neither a print nor a repeat.

And when you open it, an ink-painted pine runs along the lining — alone, without hawk or mountain. The same gesture, kept inside.

Originally a man's garment. Worn open, without a belt, it becomes a long robe that falls straight — and the painting opens across the back. Neither feminine nor masculine: the Japanese cut is straight, it is the way you wear it that decides.

The whole piece holds within one gradient of grey: charcoal at the shoulders, pearl toward the hem. The collar is navy, the only other colour. That is what makes it wearable here. It does not shout "costume" — it reads as a coat.

We do not hide that it was cut for a man. That is precisely what makes it interesting: the painting is freer, darker and more graphic than on most women's pieces.

Small light mark near the hem, visible in the last photos. No holes or tears elsewhere; silk clean, painting intact.

Sent from France, carefully folded and wrapped in Japanese paper. Times and rates are set out in the terms of sale. Returns accepted within fourteen days, except for pieces altered to measure.

Dry clean only. The painting is brush-applied directly onto the silk: never rub, never spot-clean with water. Hang in the shade.
