Each kimono is bought one at a time in Japan; we will not have another. These are authentic Japanese kimono, worn and kept before they came this far. The marks of time — the patina, the light wear — are part of the piece.
Description
A white ground entirely covered: lacquered bridges, rivers in waves of pastel silk, chrysanthemums, maple leaves, open fans. No inch of fabric is left bare. This is the most densely patterned piece in the whole collection, meant to be seen from a distance at a festival full of colour.
This is a Shichi-Go-San kimono, worn by three- or seven-year-old girls at the autumn shrine visit. The pink bow tied at the back is the obi-age, included with the piece.
A bridge appears twice in the design — a classic motif in Japanese kimono, borrowed from a Genji-era poem: the crossing, the passage from one age to the next.

- Outer silk in good condition, colours bright. On the lining, a few faint marks near the hem (photo 6) — to be confirmed as actual marks or show-through from the outer pattern.
Shipping
Sent from France, carefully folded and wrapped in Japanese paper. Times and rates are set out in the terms of sale. Returns accepted within fourteen days, except for pieces altered to measure.
Care
Dry clean only. Hang in the shade. The pink bow (obi-age) detaches for flat storage.
