What it is, exactly

Japanese green tea ground to a powder: you do not steep it, you drink the whole leaf. SEIJI comes from Kanoya, at the southern tip of Kagoshima: to drink as it is in a bowl, and especially good in a latte or in baking.

Description

Christmas & New Year limited edition, until 10 January. Red and white together in one set, for Christmas and the New Year — in Japan, red and white are the colours of the new year.

The same matcha, in both pouches — red and white. It grows on the Ōsumi peninsula, at the southern tip of Kagoshima, on a family farm we work with directly.

We import it directly from the farm, with no middleman. This lot was tested in a laboratory in Japan: of the 300 pesticide residues screened for, none was detected. It travels packed under nitrogen, then we fill each pouch by hand, in small runs, so that it reaches you fresh.

You can of course drink it as it is, whisked in a bowl, and it is especially good in a latte or in baking. Same origin, same grade, same taste: only the pouch colour changes.

Red and white side by side: in Japan, these are the colours of celebration, known as kōhaku. You find them on the paper cords that tie gifts and on the hangings put up for festive occasions. Giving the two together is already a way of wishing someone happiness. That is why this set is a limited edition, offered for special occasions: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or the end of the school year.

A way to give both at once, or keep one and pass the other on. Both pouches reseal and keep the same way.

Sent from France within three working days, in opaque resealable packaging that keeps the light off the powder. Free shipping from €60 in France and from €90 in the European Union and Switzerland. Times and rates are set out in the terms of sale. Food that has been unsealed cannot be taken back (French consumer code, art. L221-28); an unopened pouch may be returned within fourteen days.

Storage and preparation

Keep cool and dry, away from light, damp and strong smells. Close each pouch after use, pressing the air out.

Once opened, matcha loses its colour and its scent within weeks: drink it within two months.

Sift the powder before whisking; it clumps of its own accord.
